Review: Inheriting Miss Fortune by Lucy Lennox (The Billionaire Brotherhood #3)
Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.
Lucy Lennox takes readers back to Majestic, Wyoming with the third novel in her Billionaire Brotherhood series, and if you've read the previous book, then you're probably like me, eager to find out all about Devon McKay, Tully Bowman, and a little girl named Eleanor Kathryn Scott, more affectionately known as Lellie in Inheriting Miss Fortune. When Dev sees the man with the toddler approaching him on the ranch he works and lives at, he easily recognizes Tully, the lawyer with whom he shared a mutual friend, Katie Scott, and a night neither of the two men have ever forgotten. The toddler is someone he's never met, but one look at Lellie, and Dev quickly realizes that she shares his genes. With Katie's untimely passing, Tully being both her close friend and trusted lawyer, was tasked to find Dev--and not just to inform him that he's basically inherited his daughter, but also to figure out if Dev actually wants Lellie. After all, Dev claims he wouldn't make a good father. Will spending time with the little girl he can't help but love and the man he started falling for two years ago show Dev he's worthy of forever?
I'm a sucker for the single parent trope, but Lucy Lennox took it up a notch with a single guy who suddenly found himself becoming a single parent. Add in what led to Dev having little Lellie in his life and that it was Tully, the guy who made Dev's world tilt on its precarious axis. Their journey to becoming a family--and with Tully and Lellie being welcomed as part of the found family that is the Billionaire Brotherhood and those who have partners plus Kenji (of course)--wasn't easy, especially given the fact that there were hurdles in the form of Katie's parents, Tully's perceived conflict of interest, and Dev's guilt over his younger brother's death and his estrangement from his parents. But, boy, oh boy, how that happily-ever-after had me a wee bit teary-eyed and smiling softly with satisfaction. There was some angst, a fair amount of humor, and lots of sweet and steamy moments, with most of the story playing out in all its majesty in Majestic (see what I did there?). Inheriting Miss Fortune gets five stars and sets up what looks to be an intriguing story in the upcoming fourth Billionaire Brotherhood book nicely.
