Review: Secret Love by Willow Aster (Single Dad Playbook #2)

Back to Silver Hills, Colorado we go with the second Single Dad Playbook! Henley Ward is the veteran wide receiver on the Colorado Mustangs, and at the thirty-six, is the oldest among the five guys who are part of the Single Dad Players. His story plays out in Secret Love, and why does this dad of three daughters--Cassidy (13), Audrey (9), and Gracie (6)--have what appears to be, based on the title and all, a forbidden sort of romance? That's because he's smitten with Trudi Seymour, who at twenty-four is a dozen years younger than Henley, AND she just happens to be his oldest daughter's new English teacher! Both Henley and Tru know that the right thing to do is ignore the ever-present pull they have to each other, but resistance is futile. Can they minimize any damage they could leave in their secret love's wake?

From that flirty first meeting at the supermarket, followed by the disastrous time they see each other again, and then every single moment they're in the same space afterwards, I wanted nothing more than Tru and Henley to be together forever. Theirs was a connection that just begged to be acted on, and I liked that there were hurdles in their way because it made them make conscious decisions and choices. After all, the relationship affected more than the two of them; there were Henley's girls and yes, even Earl (read the book to find out who Earl is!). We can't forget the rest of the guys in the Single Dad Players group because they were quite invested in Tru and Henley's happily-ever-after. Secret Love had everything I was looking for in a light-heared romance with a dash of angst, and it easily earns five stars.
