Review: The Invitation by Adriana Locke (The Brewer Family #3)
Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.
If Renn Brewer proposed that his accidental wedding extend into forever, and Jason Brewer agreed to a marriage of convenience but wanted happily-ever-after, then Ripley Brewer had himself an invitation to a fake romance that he wished he could RSVP with a happy ending. Did that make sense? I hope so, but if it didn't, let me extend my invitation for other romance readers like me to meet Ripley, his lady love, and the rest of his siblings in The Invitation, the third novel in Adriana Locke's The Brewer Family series.
Georgia Hayes (29) hates Ripley Brewer (30), and the feeling is pretty much mutual. They've known each other since their senior year at Waltham Prep, and while they may belong to the same friend group, there's nothing amiable between them. So when Georgia agrees to step in as a replacement for her best friend's reality dating show, she's aghast to discover that her male counterpart is none other than the bane of her existence, Ripley. Pretending to be into each other is one thing, but actually falling in love is a whole 'nother matter because there's no way Georgia can fall for a Brewer.
It took a bit for me to fully get into all things Georgia and Ripley, but once I did, I adored these two and their snarky enemies-to-star-crossed lovers story. There's some family drama from Georgia's side, not that there hasn't been on Ripley's, but that played out in the first two books. The flirty banter between these main characters was just as good as the heartfelt confessions and declarations, and with a bit of angst and lots of humor, The Invitation proved to be an inviting addition to the Brewer Family series. It receives four stars.
