Review: The Grumpy Billionaire by Annika Martin (Billionaires of Manhattan #8)

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Valentine PR.

I'm such a smitten kitten over Annika Martin's Billionaires of Manhattan series, and she always seems to manage to make the wait in between each standalone so darn worthwhile. This series is like the gift that keeps on giving! The eighth novel has just been released, and The Grumpy Billionaire brings together grumpy/sunshine and falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling tropes with loads of wit and humor interspersed with the romance. And while this can very much be read as a standalone, I highly recommend you check out the other books in the series, but feel free to go in any order you so choose to.

The Grumpy Billionaire is the story of Stella Woodward and Hugo Jones. She's a thirty-two-year-old marketing filmmaker who's made the move to New York for her dream job; he's a data scientist, her older brother's best friend, and the titular grump of a billionaire. When Stella is informed that she's no longer being offered the job she moved for, her mother decides to step in and ask Hugo for a favor. Stella isn't thrilled, not only because the company Hugo works for isn't in her wheelhouse, but especially since Hugo has always made her feel as if she were an anomaly who didn't pique the lease bit of his interest. Except now it looks like he's quite interested, but will he break his code for her?

Gah! I enjoyed the heck out of Stella and Hugo's story. I laughed, I snickered, and I swooned. I loved getting to know these two, and the evolution of their relationship felt really organic rather than forced. The complication regarding Charlie, Stella's brother and Hugo's best friend, was expected, but there was also so much more to the main characters' journey towards their happily-ever-after than that. Giving The Grumpy Billionaire five stars is a no-brainer, and I've got fingers crossed for more from the series!
