Review: An Unexpected Chance by M Moreland (Insta-Spark Collection #6)

An Unexpected Chance is the sixth book in the Insta-Spark Collection from Melanie Moreland, writing as M Moreland, and is a direct companion book to An Unexpected Gift, the fourth book in the same series, although either one can be read as a standalone. That being said, I confess that this new release is my first read from the series, but it worked well enough even without having read any of the first five books. As hinted by the series title, this story features the kind of attraction that sparks intense feelings between the main characters and stirs emotions throughout the book, albeit not the angst-filled kind that I tend to favor.

Moving to the same town his former brother-in-law and his family lived in was something that Simon Fletcher knew would be good for him and his daughter, Mia. His marriage to Mia's mother may not have ended happily, but all he wants is to give girl the love and stability she deserves. Falling for Amy McNeil, however, had not been part of his plans. But resisting her is near impossible, and exploring the connection they share feels like the right thing to do. The question is, will Simon take this unexpected chance at love?

Simon and Amy were an interesting pairing, wherein while theirs was an instant sort of attraction, it took a bit for me to have them make sense together in my head. I surmise that they were supporting characters in An Unexpected Gift (Insta-Spark Collection #4) and maybe that's where the insta-spark part of their story first happened. Either way, though, I did enjoy getting to know these two and seeing them go from two individuals to a family with Mia. I'm also now super curious about Evan and Holly's story, so I'll definitely be adding An Unexpected Gift to my to-be-read list before checking out the other books in the series. All in all, An Unexpected Chance was a sweet four-starred read.
