Review: Down with Love by Kate Meader (Laws of Attraction #1)

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Give Me Books Promotions.

Originally published by Loveswept, a now-defunct imprint of Bantam Books and my introduction to more adult romance when I was a teenager, Kate Meader has re-released her Laws of Attraction series with new covers. Not having read the three books that comprise the series, I have no clues if any changes have been made with these new editions. That being said, the series starter, Down with Love, was a highly engaging and entertaining opposites-attract romance between a divorce attorney and a wedding planner.

Max Henderson (30) is well aware of the fact that happily-ever-afters are a rarity, and that's based on his personal and professional experience. So when his younger brother announces he's marrying his girlfriend of three months, Max is both happy and wary for them. Throw in the sassy and gorgeous wedding planner isn't helping matters, not with her rose-colored view of romance and happy endings. But Charlotte Love (29) pushes his buttons, and Charlie tests everything Max thinks he knows about love.

I loved this first Laws of Attraction book! While each story is a standalone in the trilogy, I like to think of the opening salvo as setting the bar for whatever is to follow, and Max and Charlie's story certainly set it high. The banter was spot-on and the tension between these two had me eager to see how everything would play out. There was so much to love about these main characters while also leaving me curious about the rest of the supporting characters. I am totally down with all things Down with Love. Five stars.
