Review: The Right Stud by Ilsa Madden-Mills & Tia Louise

The Right Stud is the second release from the writing duo of bestselling authors Ilsa Madden-Mills and Tia Louise--the first one being The Last Guy--and it came along at just the time when I needed a fun romantic comedy after all the heavier reads I had just finished. This is a complete standalone, so it isn't necessary to read the authors' first book. This story introduces readers to Ashton Hall and Jax Roland; she's the owner of a bed and breakfast called The Conch Shell, which was originally her beloved grandmother's home, and he's the star of his own popular online home improvement show, The Right Stud. They've had a connection from the moment they met in a bar, but will that connection be enough when his secrets threaten the home she loves?

This was a really good read, one that brought a smile to my face a few times, and had me laughing out loud at one point (hell, Jean Claude Van Ram!). Ashton and Jax were wickedly funny, and I enjoyed their banter as well as the more romantic moments they shared. These guys were also backed by a great group of supporting characters--from Mrs. C and Lulu, Ashton's boarder at the B&B and best friend, respectively, to Tara, Jax's producer and everyone in between. I liked the idea of them needing each other, what with The Conch Shell needing one heck of a makeover and The Right Stud needing just the right episode to pitch to HGTV. Of course, there's bound to be conflict, and while I did see it coming, I still wanted to find out how these two would be able to resolve it all. Lighthearted and fun-filled, The Right Stud had the right stuff to keep me happy. 4.5 stars. ♥
