Review: Just One Fling by Carly Phillips (Dirty Dares #4)

Just One Fling is the fourth book in Carly Phillips's Dirty Dares series, and it features Harrison Dare, a famous actor and producer, and Winter Capwell, a twenty-four-year-old journalist. Over the summer, the two indulged in a fling while she interviewed him and the rest of the team at K-Talent Productions. Neither was looking for anything long-term. Commitment wasn't on their list of priorities, both focused on their respective careers. They went their separate ways, but when Harrison sees Winter again during a charity event, he knows he wouldn't mind spending time with her once more. But all it takes is one positive pregnancy test to change the trajectory of their lives. How will he prove to her that he's not the man who once told her he wasn't interested in settling down with a wife and kids, and what will happen when she and their unborn child are put in danger?
I confess that I may have had a wee bit of trepidation prior to reading Winter and Harrison's story, mainly because I tend to be wary when it comes to either surprise pregnancy or secret baby romances. But Carly Phillips did not disappoint. I liked that neither Winter nor Harrison were pining away for each other prior to their short-term affair, knowing full well that it was going to be temporary. The unexpected pregnancy was the game changer, allowing them the opportunity to not only spend more time together, but also to see each other beyond the surface. While there was no denying that they had a physical connection, I liked seeing them build a relationship based on love, communication, and trust. Having those closest to Winter and Harrison around was such a bonus, and I cannot wait for the last Dare standing to fall. Five stars go to Just One Fling.
