Notes & Roses is the first book in the contemporary romance series entitled Stanford Creek from Rozenn Scott, which is a known pseudonym of M/M romance author RJ Scott. Set in the small town of Stanford Creek, Vermont, the series is about two sets of siblings who are cousins, each one very close to and protective of one another, or at least that's what I'm guessing based on the first two books I've read and the next two that are already posted on Goodreads. There are five cousins in all, so I'm hoping there's a fifth book in the offing because I did enjoy books one and two and the synopses for books three and four certainly have me intrigued. The first one is about florist Megan Campbell and songwriter Cody Brennan.

When a barely coherent and bloodied man with longish hair and a beard loses consciousness in the flower shop slash stationery store Megan Campbell co-owns with her cousin Rachel, Megan is more curious than she is fearful of the stranger. After he recuperates, the draw towards one another is irresistible and Megan finds that the man who introduces himself as new Stanford Creek resident Cody Brennan is even more handsome without all that hair. But Cody is hiding secrets, least of all his former public persona of boy band member CJ Taylor. When Megan starts receiving thinly veiled threats, Cody fears it could be his stalker. Will his past intrude upon the present and permanently harm any chance of a future with Megan?

Megan was a good heroine, falling for Cody even as her two overprotective brothers--Justin and Garrett--and one equally overprotective male cousin, Kyle, overstep their boundaries more than once. There's very little hesitation in her wanting to spend time with Cody and there are sweet moments between the two of them. Between the two of them, though, it was Cody that really had a deeper, darker back story. Megan and Cody's story provided for a good, romantic read and this series starter did it's job well in introducing readers to other potential main characters in the series, from the Campbell and Mercer cousins to Cody's former boy band cohorts, with Rachel Mercer and Daniel Hudson up next. Notes & Roses gets four stars. ♥
