Review: Landing the Air Marshal by Jennifer Blackwood (Snowpocalypse #1)

Note: This ARC was provided by Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

Landing the Air Marshal is the first book in the new Snowpocalypse series from bestselling author Jennifer Blackwood. When Abby Winters is tasked to check out a potential penthouse for a new film the company she works for is producing, she knows nailing this could only help her get even more positive notice from her boss. Unfortunately, her job requires her to fly from one location to another and Abby and flying do not mix, especially when the flight promises to be a turbulent one. Her luck seems to change, however, when her seatmate comes in the form of the smooth and sexy Gage Michaels, a US air marshal. Gage's methods of distraction are definitely first class, if not filthy in the best way possible. Flirting leads to making out which then has them hooking up. No strings and one night, but Mother Nature doesn't seem to get the memo and brings for a snowpocalypse that keeps Gage's and Abby's respective flights grounded but their libidos soaring higher than ever. In the span of a couple of days, what was supposed to be a quickie turned fling feels like more. But you can't actually develop feelings and emotions for someone that soon, not when you live different lives on different coasts, no matter how hot the sex. Or maybe you can...

What I liked best about Gage and Abby's story is how open and honest they were from the beginning. Neither one was making unnecessary promises to the other or making it seem as if it was more than what it really was: a one-time thing. But while that's how it may have been at the start, things escalated pretty quickly. The complications were already there even before the hooked up and it was easy to understand why both main characters weren't expecting declarations of love to be spewed about. Of course, no one ever said that love had a set time frame or that it didn't have its share of complexities. Love isn't always easy but you do what you have to in order to make it work and it goes without saying that both parties will have to want it and put in the effort. Gage and Abby were a sexy couple and being together that one weekend opened their eyes to new things about themselves and to possibilities they may not have ever considered before. With most of the focus really on Gage and Abby, I wonder who the next book will be about, though I'm guessing it's a toss-up between their respective sisters, Jill and Ella, and who ever is skipped over gets book three. Maybe. Either way, Landing the Air Marshal gave them a four-starred start. ♥
