Review: Crazy in Love by Laura Pavlov (Rosewood River #4)

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.

Crazy in Love is the fourth novel in Laura Pavlov's small-town romance Rosewood River series, and it's the much awaited story of Bridger Chadwick and Emilia Taylor. If you've been keeping tabs on these two throughout the first three books, then you know that Bridger is not a fan of Taylor Tea, an anonymous gossip column that runs in the local paper, Rosewood River Review, which just happens to be owned by Emilia's parents. Thirty-five-year-old Bridger's lone suspect behind the column? Emilia, and he doesn't hide his disdain for her, even though he doesn't exactly have definitive proof to back his suspicions. When the twenty-eight-year-old interior designer currently managing her family's flower shop, Vintage Rose, offers up evidence to disprove Bridger's allegation, all she wants is for him to apologize. Naturally, this billionaire does anything but that. There is no love lost between the two, but with them living in the same town and fate seeming to throw them together all the time, they could end up going crazy...in love.

I went into this book with a whole lot of anticipation and expectation, especially given the fact that Bridger wasn't exactly shy about letting people know what he thought of Emilia. Proving him wrong didn't bring her the satisfaction she was hoping for, nor did it offer up any sort of apology on his end. Bridger was stubborn, but there was more to it than him being bull-headed. Reading his back story lead to me better understanding why he was the way he was. It was also clear that he had a soft spot for people who mattered to him, i.e. his family. Over time, Emilia became part of that highly exclusive club as well. Bridger truly was the black cloud to Emilia's sunshine, and seeing his caring and protective side made him all the more endearing. I also liked Emilia speaking her mind more and more as the story moved forward, especially when it came to her parents, specifically her mother, whose treatment of Emilia made me seethe. But the Chadwicks were as delightful as ever, supportive and loving, with each member ready and willing to tease and push buttons just because. I'm quite crazy in love with Crazy in Love. Five stars.
