Review: Lynx by Annabelle Jacobs (Wild Wolves MC #1)

It's been over three years since I last read something by Annabelle Jacobs, and I've always enjoyed her urban fantasy romances; so when I learned she had a new series starter in the offing, I took the opportunity to lay eyes on it as soon as possible. Set in a fictional East Midlands village called Harlington, Wild Wolves MC is Jacobs's new series, and she introduces readers to this world via Lynx, the first full-length novel. Lynx Harper is the president of the Wild Wolves, a motorcycle club that is more than it seems. He and his crew know how to keep their secrets and maintaining distance with those outside the club is necessary. But Lynx never quite anticipated just how difficult it would be to keep Morgan Webb away. The twenty-five-year-old university student and Tesco Express worker calls to him like no one else before him, but Lynx knows better than to give in. Not when Lynx just happens to be a shifter with a club--his pack--to protect. But soon, circumstances will force their hand, and Lynx will have to decide if he has to choose between the security of his pack or a mate who just happens to be human.
This was such a fantastic read! I was hooked from the get-go, going from one page to another, becoming more and more emotionally invested in this motorcycle club with shifters and the humans who find themselves entangled with them and their affairs. While the connection between Lynx and Morgan may have been a given, the struggle to come to terms with it AND deal with the issues that the club was facing. The push and pull made this an even more engaging read. Yes, resistance may have been futile for the main characters, and maybe it's weird to some that I like that they didn't act on it right away, but I love when I see that there's more to their relationship than fate and a bond. The foundation was laid and the author built on it, with steps forward and missteps that they had to get over. The suspense part of the story was also intriguing, and I like that it's a story arc that will continue moving forward. Lynx was an impressive start to the Wild Wolves MC series, and I cannot wait for what comes next. It gets five stars.
