Audio Review: The Dom Who Loved Me by Lexi Blake, narrated by Ryan West (Masters and Mercenaries #1)

Lexi Blake isn't a new-to-me author; as a matter of fact, I've enjoyed several of her published series, a couple of which were spin-offs of her Masters & Mercenaries series. Funnily enough, I'd yet to read or listen to the series that started it all...until now. The Dom Who Loved Me is the first book in the Masters & Mercenaries series, and it pretty much made me realize just what I had been missing out on. This is Sean Taggert and Grace Hawthorne's story, and I've come across this couple--as well as a slew of other OG M&M combos--many times in the spin-offs, and I won't lie, I've been curious about all of them, but especially the Taggerts. And lo and behold, listening to this series starter was the highlight of my audiobook listening for September.

Going in, I knew there was going to be heat and heart and a heck of a lot of suspense to boot, and I was not disappointed one bit. Ryan West is also a narrator whose vocal stylings have been lauded by fellow audiobook listeners, and I now understand why that's so. For a fairly long audiobook, I didn't feel the need to take a whole lot of breaks in between. I was so into the story and how everything was unfolding that I ended up listening to it while running errands and trying--and failing--to focus on work. (My suggestion? Take time out over one weekend if you're planning on listening to this because you are not going to want any distractions!) I already know how good of an author Lexi Blake is; I'm thrilled that her writing translates well in audio, thanks in large part to Ryan West's narration. Five stars for the story, five for the performance, and five stars overall!
