Audio Review: Wildflowers by Kylie Scott, narrated by Andi Arndt

Note: The audiobook was provided by the author.

I had the pleasure of reading Wildflowers back when it was released in July of this year, and I'd easily declared it one of the more entertaining reads I'd come across at that point. I honestly didn't think it could get any better, but then Kylie Scott's words came out of Andi Arndt's mouth, making the audiobook for this end of the world romance a delightfully eargasmic experience! Scott's story and Arndt's narration were a match made in audiobook heaven, and while I already knew how everything was going to play out, listening to the audiobook allowed me to enjoy it all over again on a whole new level.

Maybe Wildflowers was inspired by the most recent pandemic that affected nearly the entire globe, what with a flu-like virus taking countless lives and leaving devastation in its wake. The main characters, Dean Wallace and Astrid Hardy, may not appear to have a lot in common at the onset. He's 42 and an honorably discharged Marine who now works as a contractor, and she's 33 and works from home. They're neighbors who have captured each other's eye but only actually meet as the book begins. That being said, it seems Dean has been keeping a rather close eye on Astrid, and on the virus that has no cure.

This wasn't an overly long listen, making for the perfect thing to have with me on a day that saw me spending A LOT of time in the car. Yep, Wildflowers was playing over my speakers while I was on a road trip, and I'm pretty sure there were moments where other drivers may have thought I was a wee bit nutty reacting as much as I did inside my vehicle. Oh, and same goes for my passenger, aka my bestie. (Yeah, she actually told me I was nuts.) Dean and Astrid had me desperately wanting a happily-ever-after for them, and Kylie Scott and Andi Arndt had me hoping for more audiobooks in the future. Five stars!
