Review: Worth the Wait by CF White (Worth It #1)

Note: A review copy was provided by the author via Gay Romance Reviews.

Ah, I love an angsty read, and CF White's first book in the Worth It series certainly delivered. Worth the Wait is set in Worthbridge, a coastal town in Essex, and has two men who were once best friends--and could have been more--find themselves in each other's orbit a decade and a half after the trajectory of their individual lives led them in different directions. With this also being my introduction to White's writing, suffice it to say that I was rather impressed with her storytelling, and I cannot wait to read even more.

The last time police constable Freddie Webb saw Nathan Carter, they were eighteen and Nathan had just told Freddie he was joining the British Army. Fifteen years later, Freddie sees Nate again, it's inside the Worthbridge Police Station, with the latter sitting beside his teenage son--the same one Freddie arrested earlier that day. With Nate back in Worthbridge, the chance to rekindle their friendship, and maybe finally pursue something more together, is within reach. However, could it cost Freddie and Nate too much?

Whenever I pick up a book from a new-to-me author, I go into it with the sole expectation that it'll entertain me for a couple of hours. The hope, of course, is that my heart and mind will be engaged, and I can confidently say that Freddie and Nate's story did exactly that. I was invested in these two getting their happily-ever-after, and while there were complications along the way, they made it. There's also a story arc that I want to see resolved, so I look forward to the next Worth It novels. Worth the Wait receives five stars.
