Review: Steal My Heart by Laura Pavlov (Rosewood River #1)
Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.
It's a new year and Laura Pavlov has a new series for her readers! Steal My Heart is the first in the small-town romance series Rosewood River, and if you're a longtime reader of Pavlov's or if you've read her Magnolia Falls series, you may recognize the male main character in this series starter. Easton Chadwick is the twin brother of Dr. Emerson Chadwick, the female main character in the fourth Magnolia Falls book, Beating Heart, and who found her happy ending with Nash Heart and his son, Cutler. This new series focuses on Easton, his brothers (Bridger, Clark, and Rafe), and their cousins (Archer and Axel).
Easton Chadwick is twenty-nine and a senior partner at Holloway, Jones, and Waterman and heads the practice's Rosewood River office. He's made quite a name for himself and he's got his sights set on getting his name alongside those atop the masthead. He doesn't back down from a challenge, but he sure as heck isn't thrilled about having to babysit the firm's newest junior associate. Twenty-five-year-old Henley Holloway is no ordinary employee either--she's the daughter of managing partner Charles Holloway and has been assigned to Easton to mentor. She's intent on proving Easton's assumptions of her wrong; and he's wondering why being around Henley feels oh-so-right and how she's stolen his heart.
Welp, consider my heart stolen! The beginning of a new series, especially one that has ties with Laura Pavlov's previous series, Magnolia Falls, which I loved, always has me eager and anxious. Easton and Henley's book did not disappoint! I was all in with these two and their chemistry was everything I could have hoped for. There was a lot of tension courtesy of Easton not being a fan of Henley's when she first joins the firm AND the whole mutual attraction thing, and I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see when they would give in. Readers get bits and pieces of the supporting cast and upcoming future male main characters, which I liked, but I confess that Emerson's cameos were my favorite because I love her relationship with Easton. Steal My Heart has set the bar high for this all-new series, and it gets five stars.
