Review: "Wait for Me" by Samantha Chase (The Montgomery Brothers #1)

William Montgomery has the kind of life other men would go green with envy. He's got a wife he loves, three sons who have never failed to make him proud, and a family-owned business that provides them with all their wants and needs. He's worried, though, with his youngest son and how he's relegated himself to a life away from the family after having suffered a career-ending injury. When William notices his son and his personal assistant showing interest in one another, he decides it's time to play matchmaker.

Emma Taylor has enjoyed being William Montgomery's executive assistant for the past two years and being able to see her boss' youngest son is a definite perk of the job, even if he does only show up once a month. When she's tasked by her boss to bring over papers that he's deemed important to his cabin, she agrees, especially since she'll be able to enjoy going to the spa courtesy of the elder Montgomery. Unfortunately, a snowstorm hits and she crashes into a tree close to a cabin, only it isn't William's.

Lucas Montgomery knows his family is worried about his decision to stay in his cabin, only showing up at the office once a month or whenever he's called in. His injury a couple of years ago ended his career in the NFL and any future surgeries aren't going to make it possible for him to return to the field, so what was the point? His solitude, however, is broken by a car that has crashed nearby, and he's shocked to find that the driver is none other than his father's executive assistant and she's suffered an injury or two.

Due to the snowstorm, Emma and Lucas spend a few days together, caring for one another, what with Emma's injuries and Lucas' knee. They also realize that the attraction they've been trying to keep under wraps is very much mutual. But when the snow clears and they both return to work, will things become awkward between them? What happens when they learn the truth behind William's matchmaking. Will they be grateful for his well-meaning scheme or will his interference cause doubts to arise?

Wait for Me is the first book in The Montgomery Brothers series by author Samantha Chase and puts a fun twist on the usual matchmaking love story. We often find the mother of a lead character trying to set her son or daughter up with the other main character but here we have the father taking over that role. As always, the motivations are selfless but when parents interfere in their children's lives, it can often be taken negatively. Everyone involved seems to think they know what's best for all involved.

The story itself was interesting and the main characters had chemistry together but I felt that some of their motivations were lacking any real conviction. I also had an issue with the errors that were missed during the editing process. The lack of sex scenes didn't bother me because if that's the only reason you're going to read a book, go watch some porn instead. Love stories don't always need steam. Overall, this was an entertaining read that held my attention. Wait for Me gets three stars out of five. ♥
