Review: "More of Me" by Samantha Chase (The Montgomery Brothers #3.5)

Mac Montgomery and Gina Micelli are engaged to be married but a family emergency and an overseas business trip have forced the two to ask for William Montgomery's assistance with the wedding planning. They've already got a wedding coordinator but they need William to oversee certain things while they're away. William isn't sure he's entirely qualified for the task but when the proposed wedding location turns out to be in the very backyard of another Montgomery family and that one of his nephews, who just happens to be the wedding coordinator's ex, is on sabbatical in the area, William decides it's time for another round of matchmaking to commence.

Casey Peterson is a successful wedding coordinator and is able to handle almost anything that soon-to-be wed couples throw her way. But when her latest couple, Mac Montgomery and Gina Micelli, are unable to decide on their wedding venue and aren't available to make a final decision because of personal and professional commitments, Mac asks his cousin Ryder to break the tie and choose between the two places both Mac and Gina are torn between. The one hitch? Casey and Ryder used to be a couple but split up when Ryder left after graduation to study in California, leaving Casey behind. Casey isn't exactly looking forward to working with the guy who broke her heart.

Ryder Montgomery is a successful business executive and has made more money than he could ever need. But now he finds himself needing to take a step back and finding that something (or someone) that's missing from his life. He returns to his hometown and is already trying to find a way to touch base with his ex when his cousin asks him to actually work with her on their upcoming wedding. Ryder knows Casey was hurt when he left, but now he wants to ask her for a second chance, a chance to show her that they're meant to be together. However, it appears that Casey has moved on with her life and now Ryder wonders if he's twelve years too late to be with the girl he loves.

More of Me is a novella and the fourth release in The Montgomery Brothers series by Samantha Chase. This was originally part of the All of Me boxed set that contained the first three books plus this bonus story. Fans of the third book will be happy to read about Mac and Gina's wedding here but the spotlight is really on Ryder and Casey. Since the three original Montgomery brothers have each found their happily ever after, thanks to their father the master matchmaker, it looks like the next books will focus on their cousins. This novella was a good transition between the two Montgomery families, still having a bit of the three original brothers and then Ryder and his siblings.

Ryder and Casey's story is a second chance romance and I liked its quick pacing and that there weren't any unnecessary points of conflict. Both main characters were likable and while twelve years seems like a rather long wait, there is such a thing as "first love never dies" so this was most probably the case with these two. As was the case with the books that came before this one, there were errors in the text that were missed during the editing phase but nothing overly distracting. I do wonder how William Montgomery is going to continue playing matchmaker with his nephews and nieces but I shall have to wait and see until I start book four. More of Me gets four out of five stars. ♥
