Review: The Almost Romantic by Lauren Blakely (How to Date #3)

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.

We all know how fake relationship romances end up--for real. That sounded better in my head, but what I'm getting at is that while we know fake becomes real in this particular romance trope, it's the journey getting there where creative authors separate themselves from the pack. Lauren Blakely has done exactly that with the third book in her How to Date rom-com series. There's no "almost" when it comes to how romantic (or comedic, for that matter) The Almost Romantic is. And did I forget to mention that the male main character, Gage, is a single dad? Gah! The single parent trope is my catnip, and Blakely did not disappoint, especially since she matches Gage with Elodie. The banter, the wit, the romance, and the heat were all there for me to relish, and Gage's daughter, Eliza, as well as some other highly notable supporting characters, brought that extra sprinkling of goodness to this already great read. Five stars!
