Review: Unending Love by Stacey Lynn (The Kelley Family #1)

Stacey Lynn's got herself a new series, and it's all about small town romance, with some sports romance, hockey in particular, thrown in to sweeten the pot even more. The Kelley Family is the series, and Unending Love is the first novel. (Side note: Undeniable Love is a free prequel novella about the only female sibling, Meredith, but both books can be read as standalones.) The Kelleys are comprised of parents, Charles and Jenny, and their brood--Dalton (rancher), Cameron and Caleb (twins and professional athletes in football and hockey, respectively), Meredith (lives in Nashville as a professional matchmaker and married to a pro hockey player), Gavin (works in construction and single father), and Bryce (works on the ranch alongside Dalton). After having read the series starter, suffice it to say that I look forward to getting to know this entire family as the series progresses.

An accidental pregnancy and a second chance romance set in a small town? Umm, yes please! I enjoyed the heck out of this book, especially because there were enough touches that made it feel different from other small romance reads that have crossed my Kindle recently. I liked that Caleb and Emily had their struggles coming together and becoming a family alongside their son. Yeah, that sounds weird, but I like when main characters have to work for their happily-ever-after rather than achieving it too easily. It simply makes for better reading on my end. With the glimpses we get of the other Kelley siblings, it looks like the Kelley Family series is one that I'll be looking forward to as each new book that's released. Because if Unending Love sets the bar, it sure is a nice lofty one. 4.5 stars!

Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan (Roommates #1)

I do believe I've found myself a new book boyfriend to drool, erm, swoon over in Cannon Roth, male main character in bestselling author Kendall Ryan's Roommates series starter, The Room Mate . This had a familiar romance trope--falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling--and yet I didn't find it boring or tiresome in any way. This has both heart and heat as well as lighthearted humor along with a bit of heart-tugging angst and it's headlined by a couple of main characters that I was totally smitten with from the moment Paige got a pretty good idea of just how much her best friend's younger brother Cannon had grown up from the nerdy boy who followed them around like a puppy when they were kids.
