Review: Love at First Write by Kat Baxter (SEAL Team Alpha #4)

Love at First Write is a standalone novella penned by Kat Baxter in the multi-author SEAL Team Alpha series. What drew me to this book was the fact that the main characters were pen-pals, BUT there's a twist to their story! Writing to her best friend's older brother while he's deployed with the SEALs isn't a hardship for Kelsie Blankenship, especially given the fact that she's had a crush on him for a good, long while. Many letters, emails, care packages, and a declaration of love later, Kelsie can't wait for him to come home. But when she does see him again, he has no idea of ever exchanging anything with her. It turns out that the guy who's been writing back all this time is some SEAL named Ethan Fox. Kelsie is heartbroken by the deception and wants nothing to do with Ethan. Except he's determined to prove to Kelsie that he meant every single word he said in their letters and emails to each other. Is it love at first write or just a write-off?

This was a fun, quick read. I like that Kat Baxter has managed to pack an entire romance in a limited number of pages, and not once did it feel like I was missing anything. From having the main characters fall in love while being pen-pals and then the twist that Ethan isn't the person Kelsie assumed he was was that bit of creativity that made for an even more enticing read. I appreciated the inclusion of some of the letters as well, giving me a better idea of how their feelings for each other developed with each exchange. Love at First Write was a good read, one that fits the bill if you're looking for sweet, steamy, and short! Four stars!
