Review: Trashy Foreplay by Gemma James (Trashy Affair #1)

Note: This ARC was provided by the author via L. Woods PR in exchange for an honest review.

Trashy Foreplay is my first Gemma James read and it's the first in her new Trashy Affair series, which features a young woman named Julia Hartley who makes the mistake of sleeping with her boss--her very married boss--after a fight with her boyfriend that leads to a whole lot of drinking. Her boyfriend ends things, her boss insists on her quitting, and her family thinks they know better. What's a girl to do? Leave Colorado and start anew in Seattle with the support of her best friend, of course. But on the flight over, Jules meets a man who will change her life forever.

Cash Montgomery loved his wife and merging their two families--and businesses--together was something that their respective parents insisted upon. So when Cash learns of his wife's infidelity, he's heartbroken. Their marriage wasn't a mere business transaction to him, but maybe his wife thinks differently. When he decides to confront her with his discovery, he flies back to Seattle. The woman sitting next to him, however, more than captures his attention, but he'll never see her again. Except he does because she's about to become his new personal assistant.

I'm not the kind of romance reader who shies away from anything to do with cheating, although that does come with caveat of sorts. I can't stand it when the main character who does the actual cheating blames everyone else but themselves. Thankfully, that doesn't happen in Trashy Foreplay, and can I just say that I was rather impressed with the story living up to its title. A good eighty percent of the book was exactly that--foreplay--and surprisingly enough, not once did I feel as if it was taking forever nor did I even think of the whole thing as boring or mundane.

Jules and Cash were a couple that was clearly meant to be together, but his being married and her swearing off married men are hurdles...but for how long? Well, I'm staying mum as far as that's concerned, so you're going to have to read the book. Oh and this ends on a cliffhanger and the sequel, Trashy Conquest, is slated for release in January. Yep. That's next year. Gah! So frustrating, but it's definitely on my to-be-read list already because I need answers, damn it, and NOT just about Jules and Cash. Wink, wink! 4.5 stars out of five stars go to Trashy Foreplay. ♥
