Review: Skirt Chaser by Stacey Kennedy (Filthy Dirty Love #2)

Greyson Crawford, architect and owner of Crawford Architecture, is what's known as a "skirt chaser". He loves women, particularly having his own brand of sex with them. He's never been in any sort of intimate relationship, with the only commitment being that he leaves whichever woman he's with thoroughly satisfied at the end of their one time together. He's never been interested in anything more, but there's something about interior designer Evie Richards that has him unable to think of anyone else but her. With her contract nearly over and done with, Grey wonders if now would be a good time to finally pursue her. But when he sees Evie break down after receiving a photo of her ex-boyfriend and her best friend having fun before their destination wedding--the same wedding where Evie is the maid of honor--Grey considers it a golden opportunity. He offers Evie to "use" him as her fake boyfriend in order to make the two people who cheated on her years ago jealous. In return, Grey gets Evie's complete submission during the weekend they're together. No strings; only filthy, dirty sex...or is it filthy, sexy love?

I enjoyed the first Filthy Dirty Love book, Heart Breaker, which was about Grey's best friend, Maddox Hunt, and Grey himself made an impression, so I was looking forward to reading his story. The sex was, indeed, hot and I was certainly curious as to how everything would play out between Evie and the two people who betrayed her but with whom she still maintains friendships with. I thought she was a tad too nice, to the point of her being not too believable and making it difficult for me to both empathize with and relate to her. Then there was Grey himself, who came off as somewhat shallow. There was very little in terms of character development as far as he was concerned and Evie was probably just a couple of steps above him in terms of development as well. Grey and Evie did have a connection, although I did see it as more of a sexual one than anything deeper or far more intimate. Maybe it was Grey's more blasé attitude or maybe these two simply didn't give me the "I'm so in love with you!" vibe, but they didn't click with me as a couple that would last. So, for the writing, I'm giving Skirt Chaser 3.5 stars. ♥
