Review: Making It by Christine d'Abo (Ringside Romance #3)

Note: This ARC was provided by Riptide Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

Making It is the third book in the Ringside Romance series from author Christine d'Abo involving the three original group of guys who grew up together and considered the Ringside Gym in Toronto as their place of solace--Zack Anderson, Max Tremblay, and Eli McGovern. I'm not entirely sure if there are more books in the offing, though the last line in d'Abo's acknowledgments gives me hope, especially since I've enjoyed the three books she's got so far.

Book three is a second chance romance between Eli McGovern and his ex, Devan Walsh. They may still be married but Eli hasn't see his husband since Eli walked away from Dev three years ago. When they see each other again, not only is Eli shocked to learn that Dev's tried to reach out to him several times in order to get him to sign divorce papers but also that Dev pushed through with his plan to have a child via surrogate. A baby who looks a lot like Eli.

Eli and I didn't get off on the right foot with the way he abruptly ended his marriage to Devan at the beginning of this book. I was seriously tempted to chuck my tablet his way if he were an actual living person. Can you say jackass? He had his reasons, which were, of course, revealed only when he and Dev saw each other again. Eli did win me over because he did take responsibility for his actions and absolutely went out of his way to make amends.

I liked Dev, especially because he made the conscious choice to not immediately jump back into anything with Eli. And can I just say that I've got my fingers crossed that the author does continue the series and that Pierce get his own shot at happiness as well? Kudos to d'Abo, too, for not giving this the typical storybook ending people may come to expect, but giving it one that worked out quite nicely for Eli, Dev, and Matthew. Four stars go to Making It. ♥
