Review: The Virgin Cowboy by Alexa Riley (Cowboys & Virgins #4)

Note: This ARC was provided by Ardent PRose in exchange for an honest review.

Bestselling author Alexa Riley closes out the Cowboys & Virgins series with the story of the youngest Jennings sibling--who just happens to be the lone girl in the brood--twenty-year-old Dolly, who has her own dairy farm. Dolly loves her family and her cows, but the one man she's been in love with since she was sixteen is none other than Brandon Knight. She's flirted and she's flat-out made it known to everyone that Brandon is hers, but Brandon hasn't pursued her at all. Dolly can tell that he's attracted to her, but maybe he simply doesn't share the same deep feelings she has for him. Maybe it's time for her to finally move on.

Brandon Knight has spent years as foreman of the Johnson farm and he's grown weary of it. One other thing he's grown weary of is fighting his feelings for Dolly Jennings. Yet, as much as he feels for her, he still can't help but feel he isn't good enough for the beautiful redhead. He also happens to be ten years older than her. He knows Dolly's been waiting for him to come after her for years, but it's beginning to look like she's given up. Brandon may not think he's the best man for someone like Dolly, but he refuses to even consider the possibility of her belonging to someone else. Maybe it's time he finally claim his woman.

The Virgin Cowboy provided a fitting end to this collection of novellas about the four Jennings siblings--plus a prequel that had a younger Brandon working for Cash McCallister--and I've enjoyed all the stories, some more than others, I admit. Brandon and Dolly had this palpable chemistry and I liked how she decided to handle things and how he responded to it. This wasn't a case of insta-love; rather, it was about a love that was finally acknowledged and embraced at the right time. Each novella can be read as a standalone, but I encourage you to read them in order for a well-rounded experience. This gets five stars. ♥
