Review: The Wanted Virgin by Alexa Riley (Cowboys & Virgins #3)

The Wanted Virgin is the third book in the Cowboys & Virgins series from bestselling author Alexa Riley. This series has become one of my favorites from the author, having loved the prequel and the first two books about the Jennings siblings. However, I have to confess that I wasn't much of a fan when it came to Trace Jennings and Addison Becket's story. I was curious when it was clear that Trace was hiding something--or someone--in the Roping the Virgin, and now that someone has a name. Addison is on the run from her abusive father, and when Trace finds her unconscious, he does the right thing by taking her out of the rain. Addison sees Trace as her savior while Trace sees Addison is the girl of his dreams. But can love at first sight lead to forever after if they're forced to keep Addison's presence a secret from everyone?

I was expecting the story to have more suspense, what with Addison hiding from her father and all, though they're home was actually closer than she herself realized. Unfortunately, there wasn't much suspense to speak of. There was a lot of sex between the eighteen-year-old Addison and Trace, whom I assume is in his twenties, but I didn't really believe that they could have fallen for each other as quickly as they did. Yes, I know that insta-love is a staple when it comes to Alexa Riley's novellas, however, these two simply didn't click with me. I also didn't get why Trace didn't ask for a doctor to check Addison out when he first brought her to his home. What if she had internal injuries? I know he was all alpha cowboy, but I doubt he was a medical doctor. Overall, the story was okay, but I was left wanting. The Wanted Virgin garners three stars. ♥

Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan (Roommates #1)

I do believe I've found myself a new book boyfriend to drool, erm, swoon over in Cannon Roth, male main character in bestselling author Kendall Ryan's Roommates series starter, The Room Mate . This had a familiar romance trope--falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling--and yet I didn't find it boring or tiresome in any way. This has both heart and heat as well as lighthearted humor along with a bit of heart-tugging angst and it's headlined by a couple of main characters that I was totally smitten with from the moment Paige got a pretty good idea of just how much her best friend's younger brother Cannon had grown up from the nerdy boy who followed them around like a puppy when they were kids.
