Review: A Very No Strings Halloween by Kayley Loring & Connor Crais (A Very Holiday #5)

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the authors.

William O'Sullivan, aka Billy Boston, is the lone male singleton in his clan going into A Very No Strings Halloween, the fifth book in the A Very Holiday series and the second one written by the duo of Kayley Loring and Connor Crais. While Billy may be single, he's only been mingling with his neighbor, Donna Fischer. The registered nurse who specializes in geriatric care is fun to be with, but neither she nor Billy is in the market for a committed relationship. They've got a fixed set of rules and a healthy dose of role playing when it comes to their hook-ups, and while they're hooked on their sexy times, there are moments where the temptation to get to know each other better is difficult to resist. So, when Billy's cousins wager that he won't be able to settle down and get himself a girlfriend by the time they all get together again, Billy makes Donna an offer he hopes she can't refuse--she helps him figure out the ins and outs of dating, and he helps her fix up the dilapidated (and quite possibly haunted!) house a former patient bequeathed her. But pretty soon, Billy wonders if a guy like him who's won the lottery can win Donna's heart.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen...in love! Billy was one of those side characters who couldn't seem to help himself, constantly stealing the spotlight every single time he made his presence known in the previous books. And now, he's finally got himself the girl. Naturally, it took someone who was rather extraordinary to give our guy a run for his money, and Donna was all that and then some. She kept him on his proverbial toes, but they actually did challenge each other into pushing their boundaries. Seeing them go from a no-strings setup to a relationship that had them all tangled up in one another (and willingly at that) was highly entertaining. These main characters were more than I'd expected, and I had fun getting to know them and falling in love with their story. A Very No Strings Halloween was a hilarious and heartwarming addition to the series. 4.5 stars!
