Review: Longtime Crush by Carrie Ann Ryan (Montgomery Ink Legacy #3)

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Give Me Books Promotions.

I admit that Sebastian Montgomery's story was probably my most anticipated read in the whole Montgomery Ink Legacy series because of the events that led up to this third and latest novel. Longtime Crush is about twenty-four-year-old Seb being a doting single father to his five-year-old daughter, Nora, continuing to be a co-owner of Montgomery Legacy Ink with his cousins, and finding love again after losing his first love, Marley, immediately after their birth of Nora. The return of Raven Monroe comes a surprise, but not as big of a shock as to his reaction to seeing her after all these years. She left to attend college elsewhere, only returning to Denver to attend Marley's funeral. Now, she's back and the co-owner of Latte on the Rocks. She's kept her distance, knowing her longtime crush on Seb was going to lead her nowhere. She couldn't entertain the idea of being with the man her late best friend loved. But what if those feelings were now no longer unrequited? Can Seb and Raven risk their friendship by falling in love?

Suffice it to say that my expectations were high with this newest Montgomery Ink Legacy read. My heart broke for Seb because what he had with Marley wasn't some fling. He truly did love her, and she loved him right back, risking the ire of her overly protective parents. There was a maturity to him in this book that highlighted just how much growing up he had to do after Marley passed away. His interactions with Nora were adorable, and it was clear that she was the most important thing in the world to him, as it should be. Raven's return was the game changer for Seb, and it was interesting to see them awkwardly be around each other in the beginning, and then try and deal with all those supposedly messy feelings brewing between them. I loved how darn supportive the Montgomery clan was, glaringly different from Marley's parents. I must confess, though, that the hint of suspense here felt like it came out of left field, but other than that, I enjoyed Longtime Crush, which garners four stars, and can't wait for the next book.
