Review: The Setup by Kristen Proby (Single in Seattle #4)

Back to Seattle we go with the fourth novel in Kristen Proby's addictive Single in Seattle series. The Setup features a celebrity romance between Keaton Williams and Sidney Sterling. They're both in their twenties, and while Keaton isn't the celebrity that Sidney is, he knows all about the pitfalls of that kind of life thanks to the fact that his father is none other than Luke Williams (Come Away with Me, book one in the With Me in Seattle series, and part of the OG couple when it comes to all things Seattle along with his wife, Natalie). Keaton is a car restoration expert and has a one-man shop; Sidney is a famous country singer and songwriter. At one point in time, they shared the kind of night together that was bound to unforgettable--but also meant to be just a blip in time. Then circumstances--or maybe it was an ingeniously planned setup?--have their paths crossing in Seattle once again. But as electric as their connection remains, Keaton still has an aversion to being in a relationship with a celebrity...no matter how deeply he could be falling for Sidney.

I seriously liked Sidney and Keaton together! These two just had that chemistry that made them such a great match. I must admit, though, that I did get a wee bit frustrated with Keaton and his stance on celebrities and relationships. In as much as I understood and empathized with him, his hardline views on the whole thing did give me pause. But goodness, I adored Sidney. She spoke her mind and her heart, but she was also someone who saw beyond her needs and wants. Of course, seeing the couples from the original With Me in Seattle series once again is such a bonus, like the gift that keeps on giving, plus the ones in this second generation--both those in relationships already and those who have yet to find their respective happily-ever-afters. I'm giving The Setup 4.5 stars, and I'm already looking forward to so much more from the Single in Seattle series.

Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan (Roommates #1)

I do believe I've found myself a new book boyfriend to drool, erm, swoon over in Cannon Roth, male main character in bestselling author Kendall Ryan's Roommates series starter, The Room Mate . This had a familiar romance trope--falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling--and yet I didn't find it boring or tiresome in any way. This has both heart and heat as well as lighthearted humor along with a bit of heart-tugging angst and it's headlined by a couple of main characters that I was totally smitten with from the moment Paige got a pretty good idea of just how much her best friend's younger brother Cannon had grown up from the nerdy boy who followed them around like a puppy when they were kids.
