Review: Winter Wishes by Karina Halle (The McGregors #3.5)

Winter Wishes is a holiday novella in the series of books that follow cousins belonging to the McGregors by bestselling author Karina Halle and takes place between the final chapter and the epilogue of the third full-length novel, The Play. Kayla Moore is now in Scotland, having made the decision that being by the side of the man who owns her heart, Lachlan McGregor is where she truly belongs. However, life in a foreign country means making changes and adjustments. Kayla wants to be able to pull her on weight and not rely on Lachlan for everything. With the holidays coming up, both Kayla and Lachlan will not only have to deal with the upheaval of being together but with holiday family dynamics in the McGregor clan.

This is a fast-paced novella that gives fans of the series a peek at what Lachlan and Kayla had to contend with after Kayla made the move to be with Lachlan in Scotland. For such a short book, these two have a heck of a lot of sex, taking up a good portion of the novella. There's even one that involved Kayla pretending to be a Christmas tree that needed decorating, which was as much creative as it was strange. My two favorite things about it, though, were the dogs and Brigs McGregor, whose story looks like it's going to be a very heartrending one. Overall, the novella works as a good introduction for The Lie, the fourth novel in this lovely series, and as a holiday story with lots of heat. Winter Wishes gets four stars. ♥
