Review: Going Down Fast by Carly Phillips (Billionaire Bad Boys #2)

Note: This ARC was provided by RockStar Lit PR in exchange for an honest review.

Going Down Fast is the second book in the Billionaire Bad Boys series from bestselling author Carly Phillips and is the friends-to-lovers story of Lucas Monroe and Maxie Sullivan. Growing up next door to one another, Lucas and Maxie were each other's closest friend, and both of them grew up to have feelings that went beyond friendship. Unfortunately, neither one ever shared their desire to be more than friends, and when Maxie ends up marrying Lucas's older brother several years after they went their separate ways for college, the close friendship went into hiatus, even as they ended up living in the same building. And then Maxie's life is turned inside out when she loses her unborn child and several months later, her husband, who had dark secrets that he kept from everyone in his life. When her late husband's manipulations and deceptions come to light, Maxie turns to Lucas. Living together brings their long-kept feelings to the forefront, and when Maxie's life is put in danger, Lucas will do everything to keep her safe.

The synopsis for this book doesn't give much away, so when I started reading it found out what it was really about, I was thrown for a loop. There are a few twists in the story and I couldn't help but feel for these two because it was as if they should have always been together but every opportunity was taken away from them. Lucas was such a great guy and I love how he was always protective of not just Maxie but of everyone who matters to him, including his parents and his best friends. There were a couple of times that Maxie's indecision when it came to Lucas left me frustrated, but then I guess when you come out of a marriage that was filled with so many lies, then you'd be wary about heading heart first into a new relationship. I did notice that Julian Dane, ex-friend to Lucas, Kaden Barnes, and Derek West was here again as well as Kendall, Lexie Parker's sister, and my suspicions as far as they were concerned were confirmed via Kobo. Now, I'm doubly excited for the rest of this series. Going Down Fast gets four stars. ♥
