Review: Yule Be Mine by Piper Rayne

Yule Be Mine is the fourth in writing duo Piper Rayne's Holiday Romances series of standalones, and it's got falling-for-my-best-friend's-sibling, small-town, (kinda-sorta-maybe) second-chance romance vibes. Set in Mistletoe Falls, Vermont, Carter Russell is taking time off from work to be at the destination of his two best friends, Steph and Doug. When the room he's reserved at the local inn appears to not have been booked, his only option is to stay at the Silver Bells B&B--the one owned by Steph's twin sister, Ashley (no last name to be found!). The fact that he rejected her after their one date together certainly complicates matters, and the second she sees him cross her B&B's threshold, it's clear she hasn't forgiven him. But then Steph and Doug inform Ashley and Carter that they'll be delayed getting to Vermont. Now, the maid of honor and the best man need to work together to get everything in order before the wedding. That'll mean they'll need to play nice, but could the desire to play naughty actually lead to a holiday-ever-after?

'Tis the season to get my holiday romance reading on, and Piper and Rayne have yet to steer me wrong. I'm actually glad that these particular books of theirs are all standalones because waiting for a year in between releases for non-standalones would have made me nutty! Now, we've got Ashley and Carter in Mistletoe Falls--side note: this is the second book I've come across this month that is set in a place with this name--and while it took a bit for the reason why she hated him and why he did what he did for her to him in the first place came out, I empathized with them both. Spending time together allowed them to get to know each other better and for Carter to see Ashley as her own separate person. Yeah, she looked like his best friend, but Steph was Steph and Ashley was Ashley, and being thrown in a situation that required them to be in each other's company for extended periods of time finally gave him his opportunity to get his head on straight. Yule Be Mine was a funny, sweet, and entertaining four-star read!
