Review: One Night with You by Carrie Ann Ryan (Montgomery Ink Legacy #7)

One Night with You is the seventh novel in Carrie Ann Ryan's Montgomery Ink Legacy series, and if you were able to read the previous release, His Second Chance, then it would be nearly impossible for you to have missed on the connection between Kingston Montgomery and Claire Harlow, the former being the cousin and closest friend of Kane Montgomery and the latter being the best friend of Piper Dixon--both of whom were the main characters in the aforementioned title. Kingston and Claire had forged their own friendship, with her nursing a crush on him that he was seemingly oblivious to. Then Claire and Piper were victims of an attack on Kingston and Kane's watch. Claire has distanced herself from Kingston, and he's riddled with guilt over not being there when she needed him while also trying to understand why she's now kept their interactions at a minimum. Will the event planner and the security specialist be able to find their way back to each other and realize that they're both worthy of a happily ever after together?

It's difficult to not become emotionally invested in all things Montgomery, and I'm saying that as someone who has only read a handful of books from the origin series, meaning that even though I may not be familiar with every single couple and throuple from back then, I get to know them through the stories of their children in the spin-offs. Carrie Ann Ryan has consistently done a great job making sure the spotlight is on the main characters while also bringing in those cameo appearances that have longtime readers smiling. With Kingston and Claire, the evolution of their relationship from friends to lovers made it feel like it was inevitable, almost as if their HEA was just waiting for them to realize it was always there for the taking, even if it may have required a bit of hurdling. Just like Kingston and Claire were there for Kane and Phoebe, the same is easily said the other way around. From start to finish, I was eager for the HEA Kingston and Claire so deserved, and One Night with You did not disappoint. 4.5 stars!

Review: Him by Sarina Bowen & Elle Kennedy (Him #1)

Four years' worth of meaningless sexual encounters flash through my head as I break the kiss and slide down his body again. All those guys I hooked up with in the past...they're a blur.
