Review: Merry Kissmas by Piper Rayne

The bestselling romantic comedy-writing duo of Piper Rayne have another novel guaranteed to tickle our funny bone and warm our heart! Merry Kissmas is a second-chance romance between Brynn Russell and Pierce Wainwright, and while it's loosely tied to the authors' two previous holiday romances, Single and Ready to Jingle (Andrew Wainwright is Pierce's cousin) and Claus and Effect (Tre Russell is Brynn's older brother), this new book, alongside the two previous titles, can be read independently of each other. But hey, if you're like me and you like getting all your proverbial ducks in a row, then I can happily recommend that you check out and read the books in order (or not, whatever floats your boat) to meet recurring characters.
Merry Kissmas is about the one that got away. It's been six years since it all went down, and while twenty-five-year-old Brynn Russell won't admit it to herself, she's never quite forgotten thirty-year-old Pierce Wainwright, the Brit who stole her heart before breaking it. Now, not only is he interviewing for the same job she is at a prestigious advertising agency, he's also been invited to join the Russells over the holidays in Utah. Brynn would love nothing more than to be back in their hometown in Oregon, but she's stuck with the guy who let her get away--yet Pierce makes it clear that all he wants is to keep her close and never let go again.
With a little over a month before Christmas, holiday romances are out and about, and is there a better time than now to get our grabby hands on these stories? Piper and Rayne once again bring readers a rom-com that's a delight to read, with lots of heart and humor. Add in the holiday time frame, and it's every bit the feel-good romance that Santa would recommend. I appreciated that Pierce had to work at proving to Brynn that he was all in and that he wouldn't make the same mistakes he did six years prior. These two may have been meant to be, but that also didn't mean that just because they were in each other's orbit once again, it would be as simple as jumping into bed together. Brynn's family were a hoot, and now, I'm kinda-sorta-maybe-absolutely hoping Carter gets a holiday romance next year as well. Four stars for Merry Kissmas.
