Review: Pulse by Adriana Locke (Landry Security #1)

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.

A new series starter from Adriana Locke AND cameos from the Landrys? Heck, yeah! Landry Security is the latest series from Locke, and the first novel features Troy Castelli, thirty-seven, former military, and now a security specialist with the aforementioned security company started by none other than Ford Landry (Swear, book four in the Landry Family series). He's paired with Dahlia Lovelace, twenty-five and Troy's assistant over the past two years. The two are friendly and flirty, yet neither have done much to acknowledge the sizzling chemistry between them. When Dahlia realizes she has a stalker--one who doesn't hesitate to threaten her--Troy decides to take that vacation his boss has been insisting on but with Dahlia in tow. He's vowed to protect her, but will having just one bed between them lead to finally surrendering to all their pent-up needs?

If anyone had any doubts about Adriana Locke taking on romantic suspense, this first Landry Security book should put those to rest. Locke has struck a good balance between the two main elements, giving readers a fun and heartwarming romance while also having them wonder who the heck is trying to harm the female main character and try to figure out what's motivating them. Troy is every bit the alpha male main character. He's protective and bossy and has a grumpy side to him. On the other hand, Dahlia is that dose of sunshine and optimism that he looks forward to on a daily basis. She also knows what she wants and doesn't kowtow to anyone. I enjoyed the banter between these main characters and I enjoyed seeing them give in to the attraction and affection stirring for a couple of years. And yes, Linc truly is the gift that keeps on giving. Pulse receives 4.5 stars.
