Review: On the Map by Christina Hovland (Mile High Stallions #1)

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Grey's Promotions.

On the Map is the first book in Christina Hovland's new Mile High Stallions series, and it's the story of Maya Mitchell, a backup singer with dreams of going solo and a bad habit of getting hitched in Vegas, and Sloan Steele, star center for the Denver Stallions and in need of a PR makeover, who drunkenly become husband and wife. Now, it's Vegas, so while getting married is easy peasy, so is getting divorced, but maybe this whole wedded bliss thing could work to their advantage. If they can sell being a happy couple who's madly in love, then it'll be the glow-up Sloan's reputation demands and the launching pad for Maya's solo singing career. All they need is to follow three simple rules: no misunderstandings, no expectations, and no falling in love. Easy enough, right? That is, until very real feelings demand a whole new game plan for their fake marriage.

This was a really good start to this new series. I loved the chemistry between Maya and Sloan. They had great banter and while they were virtual strangers when they first exchanged vows, it was clear that they belonged together the more they bonded as a couple. This is a romantic comedy, so expect wit and humor to be nicely paired up with all the swoony romance. There are some notable supporting characters that I suspect will be part of the other books to come in the series, but for all intents and purposes, the spotlight truly was focused on Maya and Sloan. On the Map was a book that helped perk up what's been a trying week, and it did my heart good while also giving me a reason to laugh and smile. I'm giving this series starter a much deserved 4.5 stars.
