Audio Review: The Unlikely Heir by Jax Calder, narrated by Gary Furlong (Unlikely Dilemmas #1)

Note: A review copy was provided by the author.

The Unlikely Heir is the first book in the Unlikely Dilemmas series, and I was finally able to read it in the second half of 2024. When I learned that the author, Jax Calder, was releasing the audio version, and with Gary Furlong doing the narration no less, I knew I simply had to lay my ears on it. (That sounded much better in my head.) If you're new to either Calder or Furlong, you're in for a treat with this series starter, and I've got high hopes that the two other titles in the series will get the audio treatment very, very soon!

A quick rundown of the story: Callum Prescott (25) is an American who's just learned that he's suddenly been moved up the line of succession, making him the heir to the British throne. A Yank who's supposed to be king?! Not everyone has faith that he's worthy, but he's got his fair share of supporters, most notably the current prime minister, Oliver Hartwell (39). However, things become (even more) complicated when these two begin to fall for each other. Will this unlikely pair ever live happily ever after?

The Prince of Wales, just like every other member of the royal family, is supposed to be apolitical. So naturally, when he falls for the Prime Minister, aka the very political leader of the nation, getting to that HEA is not going to be easy. That's why this sweet and witty romance penned by Jax Calder was a great read, and now, with Gary Furlong lending his vocal talents to the audiobook, it's even better as I immersed myself in Callum and Oliver's story a second time around. The Unlikely Heir is a five-star listen!
