Review: Chasing Love by Piper Rayne (Plain Daisy Ranch #5)

We're on to the next Owens sibling in the sixth book in the Plain Daisy Ranch series, and Bennett Owens's story is a second chance romance! Chasing Love finds the thirty-one-year-old widower focusing on the things that matter most--his seven-year-old daughter, Wren, his family, and Plant & Petal Landscaping, the business he co-owns with one of his cousins. As far as almost everyone knows, he still mourns the loss of his late wife, Kristie, but Bennett's reaction when he comes face to face with the woman who first owned his heart has many wondering if he could find love once again. Returning to her hometown of Willowbrook with her seven-year-old daughter, Leia, after the arrest of a husband has thirty-one-year-old Delaney Richards needing to find her footing once again. Rekindling any sort of romantic relationship with the guy she loved at seventeen--the same one who broke her heart all over again seven years ago--would be a mistake. Especially given the fact that she's kept a seven-year-old secret from him.

Ooh, talk about a complicated situation for our main characters! Obviously, Laney was the one that got away as far as Bennett was concerned, or maybe it was more of she was the one he felt he had to let go of seven years prior to them seeing each other again in Willowbrook. But she was going through a lot, no thanks to her louse of a husband, plus there was something that she knew she had to come clean with. Now, divulging what that something is isn't going to be a spoiler, considering it's mentioned in the blurb of the book. However, I know that there are readers who go into books blind, so I'm not going to go too much into specifics here. Suffice it to say that I understood why Bennett was as hurt and angry as he was once the truth came out. These two needed to rebuild the trust that would prove to be necessary if there was any hope for them to move forward together, especially because their daughters were as close as they were. They chased love, and indeed, that love was well worth the chase. Five stars for Chasing Love!
