Review: Just One More Temptation by Carly Phillips (The Sterling Family #4)

Fallon Sterling is the next Sterling sibling up in Carly Phillips's The Sterling Family series, and her story has two of my favorite romance tropes--age gap and single parent. Just One More Temptation finds twenty-five-year-old artist Fallon working in a gallery when twin eleven-year-olds named Dylan and Dakota come inside and declare that she's not their mom. Within minutes, their harried father, Noah Powers, follows and while his worry and panic are clear on his face, he can't help but take note of the young woman his daughters mistook for their mother--who was away for work in Egypt--from behind. It's clear that the attraction between Noah and Fallon is mutual, but the fact that Noah's responsibilities to his girls and as a partner at his law firm, plus the eleven-year age difference has him cautious. But Fallon is a temptation too difficult to resist, and she's proving to be a much needed light in his life. However, just as everything seems to be falling into place, someone seems very much intent to cause Fallon harm.

He's a single dad with twin daughters AND he's a grump? Oh, and there's the whole eleven-year age gap as well. Hook. Line. SINKER! Yup, I was sunk when it came to Noah, but Fallon wasn't some shrinking violet. I loved how independent she was, and she did not hesitate to speak up and make her thoughts and feelings known either. I liked the connection between these main characters, and I appreciated how Charlotte (Kendall), Dylan and Dakota's mom, wasn't some vindictive ex that wanted to stand in the way of Noah and Fallon's happily-ever-after. (Side note: I'm glad she's getting her own shot at a happy ending in the next book in the series!) I also want to point out that there was zero family drama on either side, and that's always a plus for me because the last thing Noah and Fallon needed was that. There's the expected bit of suspense, and while it was obvious who was doing what, I still enjoyed how it blended well into the overall story, making for an entertaining read. I'm giving 4.5 stars to Just One Temptation.
