Review: Forbidden Desires by Erika Wilde

It's been a while since I last read something by Erika Wilde, not counting her co-written work with Carly Phillips, so when I learned that she had a new standalone on the horizon, I found myself eagerly awaiting till it landed in my hands. Forbidden Desires is the story of Jasmine Greene and Eric Maxim. She's a twenty-four-year-old who dropped out of college after her parents unexpectedly passed away when she was eighteen, leading to her becoming a cam girl before being taken in by Dominique LaRue as a high-paid escort. When she expresses her hope to be in a more exclusive, long-term arrangement, Dominique decides she has just the client for Jasmine--Eric Maxim. The forty-six-year-old billionaire happens to be an art patron in need of an escort for events and engagements in the art world, a world that Jasmine is more than familiar with, being an aspiring artist herself. This was a simple arrangement that was meant to stay professional, but nothing about their attraction was simple and it had now become very much personal.
This book surpassed any and all my expectations for it! Jasmine had my attention from the get-go. I loved the fact that she wasn't the least bit embarrassed about being an escort and she owned her sexuality. She also didn't back down from whatever life threw her way, and that includes Eric. Speaking of the enigmatic billionaire, I was a huge fan of seeing him fall for Jasmine. He was a man who always seemed to be in control, but it took someone like her to knock his world off its axis. I was hooked on these two and liked the dynamic they had. I tried to recall the last time I read a romance that had one of the characters as an escort, and I honestly couldn't think that far back, so this definitely gets bonus points for offering up something different from my usual fare. I finished this book in one sitting, which is saying something since I've tended to stop and start lately, so Forbidden Desires easily garners 4.5 stars.
