Review: Something Like Love by Piper Rayne (Chicago Grizzlies #3)

From the moment Cooper Rice and Ellery Wallace were introduced in the Chicago Grizzlies prequel novella, On the Defense, it was clear that they were bound for a friends-to-lovers story. After all, these two have been besties since they were in their junior year of college, which was about a decade ago. But they did make a promise to each other eight years ago, one that had them swearing they would never cross "that" line, aka giving into the oh-so-obvious non-platonic connection that even a blind person could see. But there's only so much resisting these two could do. Almost as if they were always headed for more, Cooper and Ellery if promises are meant to be broken, especially when they were destined for Something Like Love. (See what I did there? Insert cheesy wink.)
Cooper and Ellery may have had a guaranteed happily-ever-after, but even with a connection as strong as the one they shared, getting to that HEA was NOT the least bit easy for these two. Usually, it's the male main character who offers up resistance, but in the case of this third and final Chicago Grizzlies novel, it was the female main character who was a wee bit stubborn. There was a point in the book where I thought, "Welp, I get why Bryce (Something Like Hate) and Ellery are as close as they are." Kudos to Cooper for being as patient and as understanding as he was. All in all, Something Like Love was a good read, one that felt like it had put the right end to a fun-filled series. Four stars for this series, and the next spin-off from Piper Rayne is one I'm already looking forward to.
