Review: Enemies with Benefits by Annika Martin & Joanna Chambers (Enemies with Benefits #0.5)

Well now. Talk about an attention grabber! Enemies with Benefits is a prequel novella that introduces readers to two very dangerous men who seem to have two very different agendas...or maybe not. Written by Annika Martin and Joanna Chambers, what this book may lack in terms of length is made up for by the sex and suspense and leaves you eagerly anticipating what happens next between Will, an American and former member of Special Forces, and Kit, a Brit and the assassin slash bodyguard for the man believed to have played a major role in the ambush that led to the deaths of Will's men. Will is seeking revenge and Kit is the man meant to stop him. That is, of course, until they're ensnared in an unexpected attraction that could end up costing both Will and Kit their lives.

I've read Annika Martin's and Joanna Chambers's work in the past, but goodness, the heat level they were able to pack in less than fifty pages of story had me needing to sit in front of the air conditioner just to cool off a bit. The information we get here leaves us curious, which is what it's meant to do because now, I'm itching to read about Will and Kit's next encounters and how they'll end up resolving their seemingly contrary goals. The authors did drop a clue or two that has me thinking that there's more to Kit's being an assassin than meets the eye and wondering how that plays against or in favor of Will's need for vengeance. I don't know if the full-length title, Enemies Like You, ends in a cliffhanger or not, but I need it. Like NOW. Enemies with Benefits gets five of five stars. ♥
