Review: Don't Hold Back by Missy Johnson (Love Hurts #4)

Note: This ARC was provided by the author via Give Me Books Promotions in exchange for an honest review.

Don't Hold Back is the fourth novel in bestselling author Missy Johnson's contemporary romance series, Love Hurts. The diagnosis Erin Camden receives leads the twenty-four-year-old to want to spend her last few months travelling, exploring, and going through new experiences. She puts up an ad on Craigslist looking for a companion, but she makes it clear to be upfront about what she expects and she doesn't hide the fact that she is, indeed, dying. The companion she chooses is twenty-six-year-old Cade Wilson, and together they became partners on this journey of discovery--both who they are and who they become as a couple. From the beginning, both Erin and Cade knew their time together with be limited, but the time they did have? It was all about them not holding back.

This was a beautiful love story and one that easily gives you the feels you would come to expect from a story like it. You know full well what you're getting here because it's no secret that Erin is dying. I knew how their romance would end, but it's a worthwhile read because of the journey they both go on. Erin chose to not make her diagnosis a death sentence; rather, it sparked something within her, wanting her to truly live during her last few months. Cade has his own issues he's dealing with, but being around Erin gives him a whole new perspective, and by the end, he's able to give her what she wanted and she, in turn, gave him what he needed. There's a kinda-sorta twist early on which I loved and overall, Don't Hold Back was a poignant and touching love story. It gets four stars. ♥
