Review: Broken Silence by Felice Stevens (Rock Bottom #1)

Image
Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Buoni Amici Press. Felice Stevens has got a new series and if the rest of Rock Bottom is as good as the first book, then this could very well become my favorite collection of books from the author! Broken Silence is the series starter and it employs the professor-student romance trope with a touch of May-December to it. We're introduced to twenty-five-year-old Justin Molina, a senior in college who spent a year in jail for a crime that was meant to help his then-ailing father, and forty-two-year-old Foster F. Harding, a university professor teaching Introduction to Poetry Writing and a soon-to-be divorced man. On paper, neither man may have a great deal in common but when their paths cross in Foster's classroom, the power of poetry and an unexpected attraction like any other has them becoming entangled in what could well be an illicit affair that may possibly threaten Foster's tenure and further sull...

Review: Fearless King by Maya Hughes (Kings of Rittenhouse #4)

Image
Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Give Me Books Promotions. Fearless King is the fourth full-length novel in the Kings of Rittenhouse series penned by Maya Hughes, and while you can choose to read this book as a standalone, there are recurring characters and I think reading the series in order will lead to a better, more well-rounded reading experience. If you've already read the previous titles, then Ford Atherton should be more than familiar. His story has a touch of the forbidden, thanks to his involvement with none other than his best friend, Colm Frost's, younger sister--Olivia. Add to that another complication in the form of Ford's younger brother, Grant, having feelings for Liv as well, and you can imagine all the angst and feels in this book. There is a prequel in the form of a free short story on the author's website that does set up the beginnings of Ford and Liv's romance, and while you don't necessarily need t...

Review: Struck by Emma Louise (Flawed Love #3)

Image
Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Give Me Books Promotions. Struck is the third book in the Flawed Love series and my third read from Emma Louise, and it's a series that's gotten increasingly better with each new book I've read so far. This single parent romance is about TJ Harmon, a man who decides to drown his sorrows and heartache with alcohol and a drunken one-night stand. Months later, he's shocked to find out that the woman he was with has not only passed away but that she's just borne their baby, a son named Abel. It's then that his life changes for the better. He has purpose and now, nothing and no one is as important as little Abel. It's father and son against the world. And then TJ meets a woman named Breeze Lucas, and just like her name, she's a breath of fresh air that seems to bring with her winds of even more change. But with at least a decade between TJ and the twenty-year-old Breeze, plus his bein...
