Victory lifts her face, and something in her eyes tells me we're both tumbling down the same hill, and I ache to reach the bottom first, so I can catch her.

Flirting with Trouble is the first novel in the newest spin-off series from bestselling author Melissa Foster. This is the much awaited story of Wellington Silver and Victoria Braden, aka Wells and Victory, both of whom have made appearances in some of the author's previous releases, and they kick off the Silvers at Silver Island series. Wells is thirty-one, the youngest among his five siblings (two brothers and two sisters), a restaurateur who owns the highly popular Rock Bottom on Silver Island, and a guy who has a bit of a reputation for being a playboy; Victory is thirty-seven, the oldest child with four younger brothers, the president of Blank Space Entertainment, and a widow who lost her beloved husband, Harvey Bauer, five years ago. He's always been a charmer who doesn't look for more than a good time with whichever woman catches his fancy. Unfortunately, Vic isn't someone who's easily caught up in Wells's good looks, wealth, and flirty nature. But on a night where memories and regrets were threatening to drown her, his sudden appearance opens the door to something which neither of them was prepared for.

Ah, there you are, spectacular beginning to a new series! Maybe it's the fact that I have a thing for reverse age gap romances. It's possible that I love reformed playboy main characters. What I do know without a shadow of a doubt is that Melissa Foster ensured that the bar was going to be set remarkably high for her latest series starter with two strong main characters who have their chemistry down pat and a rich, layered story that makes you swoon, smile, and maybe even shed a tear or two. Foster is more than adept when it comes to creating stories that highlight family and community, and she isn't shy in bringing both heart and heat, all of which are on full display in Flirting with Trouble. This easily receives five-plus stars.
