Throwback Thursday Review Re-Post: "All of You" by Christina Lee
This is a re-post of my original Goodreads review for All of You by Christina Lee. This is the first book in her Between Breaths series. I originally read All of You on 06 October 2013 and posted my review the very same day. ^.^
I went into All of You blind, meaning I couldn't, for the life of me, remember the synopsis when I first came across the title. A couple of pages into the first chapter, I found myself thinking, "This is one slutty girl." Thank goodness I didn't let my first impression get to me. I read the book in one sitting and LOVED it to bits! ^.^
All of You had an original premise and characters that were not one-dimensional. This wasn't merely a story about a girl who's been with her fair share of guys and a guy who's saving himself for his true love. There was depth in their personal stories and you find yourself wanting to know more and have them overcome their inner demons.
After my initial impression of her, female lead character Avery Michaels grew on me. She experienced something life-altering and her idea of men and sex became jaded because of it. Does that excuse her hooking up with guys just to scratch an itch? No, but it does explain why she insists on taking control of her life, including her sex life, and why she's hesitant to engage in anything "more" than just sex.
Ah, Bennett Reynolds. He has officially become my new book boyfriend. Hehehe. This guy had a less than ideal upbringing yet came out of it knowing what he wanted in life. He was the man with a plan. ^.^ The guy was irresistible and you can't help but wonder if there are actually any guys left like him in the real world.
For a debut, Christina Lee hit all the right notes and, as was the case with All of You, I shall be marking Before You Break as part of my never-ending TBR list. ^.^
I highly recommend All of You. It was definitely one of my favorite reads for 2013. Five out of five stars! ^.^
Goodreads Rating: Five Stars
