Review: Chasing Destiny by Megan Erickson (Silver Tip Pack #2)

Note: This ARC was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

He wrapped his other hand around my neck and caressed my jaw with his thumb. The warm of his touch spread through me. I was right where I’d always wanted to be. His smile was slow, spreading across his face like dripping honey. “You’re the destiny I’ve been chasing all my life, Nash.”

Megan Erickson introduced us to her world composed of werewolves, shifters, and zombie werewolves in Daring Fate, the opening salvo in her Silver Tip Pack series. What wasn't to like in this newly opened realm of this author's imagination? It had an air of familiarity courtesy of wolf shifters, but goodness, how Erickson took it up a notch with her Weres and Noweres! While waiting for the release of the second full-length novel in the series, she treated her loyal readers to an exclusive look at the relationship of two other supporting characters in that series starter, and we gobbled that stuff up like, well, bacon (because I love bacon and can never say "no" to it). When I was given the opportunity to read an advanced copy of Chasing Destiny, I tried to keep my expectations in check, and what did the author do? She blew each one out of the water with a second chance love story unlike any other.

After the harrowing events in book one, we find Bay trying to find his footing and stepping away from the confines of the Silver Tip pack's home in Eury. Heading to Astria in order to see if there were any survivors of the Whitethroat pack was Bay's main goal, but that all changed when he caught a glimpse of an all-too familiar face, one that he had long believed was gone to him, only to have a glimmer of hope that was quickly squashed when his brother told him what had happened. But now, the proof stands warily before him--Nash is alive, the same Nash that Bay has always loved, the same one he knows loved him in return. This Nash, however, is a shell of the alpha he once was...at the same time, though, there's something about him that seems barely under control, trying to claw its way to the surface. It may seem like a new opportunity to be together, but are they better apart?

Bay and Nash's story made me cry because going back to the way things used to be isn't a possibility for these two, but can they even be together with they way things stand between them now? Nash has his secrets and they're dark and twisted ones, enough that they've tainted him in ways even I hadn't been able to consider. There seemed to be so much going against them, but the stuff that was going for them? Those were so much more insurmountable--the kind that proved that what Bay and Nash had was so worth dying AND living for. Seriously, these two Weres were everything. They were sweet and swoony and then scorchingly hot and heavy. There were bits of humor--spelling F-U-C-K and then Bay saying he fucking loved Nash was a hoot--and lots of action as well, all intermixed with the sex and romance and twists that you never see coming but will have you wanting to stand up and applaud, making Chasing Destiny a five-plus-starred 2017 must-read. Now, I've got my fingers crossed for three particular characters--coughPaceVaughnCaticough--to get together for book three. You hear me, Megan Erickson? ♥
