Review: International Player by Louise Bay

Image
Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author. I originally listened to Louise Bay's International Player when it was released as an Audible Original a few months ago, and when the ebook was slated for publication, I knew I wanted to experience this friends-to-lovers romance once again. This is the story of Truly Haybury and Noah Jensen. Truly's harbored a crush on Noah, but she knows someone like him would never consider someone like her anything more than a friend. She doesn't think she's as beautiful or confident as her twin sister, so why should Noah see her as someone he'd be interested in? He's a player, after all, and the fact that Truly is the first female he's ever just been friends in tells you something. When Truly is forced out of her comfort zone in order to take over her sister's responsibilities with their family charity, Noah knows he can help her step up her game. Socializing and being charming and self-assured wil...

Review: Connected in Code by Ryan Michele (Ravage MC Rebellion #4)

Image
Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author. The fourth book in the Ravage MC Rebellion series is finally here, and its easily become my current favorite in the series. Connected in Code is the story of twenty-eight-year-old Hayden Winchester who is forced to hack her way into a system and gather information. It may sound simple enough--after all, Hayden is a whiz at what she does, but the pressure is on for her not to get caught or screw up. With her best friend's life at stake, Hayden needs to get in, gather her intel, and get out without being detected, but while she may be good at getting through firewalls, Wrong Way is a very real threat to the walls she's built around her. The fact that he also happens to be part of the Ravage Motorcycle Club's Rebellion chapter complicates things beyond belief. He's able to see her beyond her persona, and she glimpses Reid Maxwell--the man behind the road name. The more entwined Hayden and Wrong Way bec...

Nocturnes & Nightmares (The Sandman #1) by Keri Lake Release Date: April 29, 2019 About Nocturnes & Nightmares The most terrifying monsters aren’t found in dreams … Four young socialites have gone missing in the Chicago area. Two found dead, bearing the signature marks of a brutal serial killer. With the kind of tragedy that mars Nola Tensley’s past, she should be concerned, but without a pot to piss in, all the struggling single mom cares about is making a normal life for her son.  After all, she’s clearly not the murderer’s type. Or is she? When Rhett Voss, an enigmatic and handsome stranger, answers her ad for the outdated in-law suite at the back of her property, offering double her asking price, Nola really can’t refuse. Even though the supposed Wall Street Wolf seems better suited for a high-rise downtown—a suspicion that quickly turns into hindsight once she submits to the flirtations of her charming new tenant, and consequently, uneart...

Review: Nocturnes & Nightmares by Keri Lake (The Sandman #1)

Image
Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Give Me Books Promotions. There's a strange sensation humming through me when I stare back at her half-cocked smile and shiny eyes. A zap of something foreign and gratifying at the same time. The way one might look upon a small bird that has just eaten from the palm of his hand.   The very thought has my fingers curling into tight fists, just as they would with a bird so trusting. Whenever I pick up a Keri Lake novel, I know I'm in for a hell of a read. With Nocturnes & Nightmares , the first book in Lake's Sandman duet, I may even forgive the author for that evil cliffhanger of hers, although cliffhangers are almost always a given with duets and trilogies. It's a two-week wait for the second novel, and the second I finished book one, I was immediately antsy to get my hands on book two because I need answers to all the damn questions swirling in my head. I'm used to Lake's stor...

Review: Sweet Thing by JA Huss (Naughty Things #2)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author. JA Huss's Sweet Thing may have a seemingly sweet and innocent female main character but the girl's got one heck of a saucy and spicy side as well! She's a couple of days away from turning eighteen, but Aria Amherst decides it's never too early to live like an adult. A bit of house- and cat-sitting while her older sister is away on a photo shoot during spring break is the perfect time for Aria to have an adventure of two. After all, she's led a very sheltered life, thanks to the over-protectiveness of her parents--her dad, in particular. She never expected the adventure to come in the form of Ryker North, a hot self-made businessman who plays drums as a hobby. Soon enough, it's clear that Ryker wouldn't mind, erm, playing with Aria. When he learns she's not quite legal yet, however, Ryker steps back and wonders if the hassle of being with someone much younger than his thirty-five year...
