The Revenge Game is the first full-length novel in the new The Revenge Club series from Jax Calder. When Justin Morris finds himself dealing with one technological issue after another at work, it's the new IT guy who comes to his rescue. Drew Smith is great at his job, and it turns out that he lives in the same apartment building. The more time he's around Drew, the more Justin finds himself wanting to share a secret he's kept to himself for far too many years. But Drew has a secret of his own, one that could absolutely crush Justin--which is exactly what Andrew Yates has always wanted. Right?
Let's be honest: many of us aren't strangers to thoughts of vengeance against someone who has wronged us, and yes, a lot of those can be from years before. Knowing what Andrew experienced at the hands of Justin and his cohorts back in high school, I could comprehend why he was as motivated as he was to get back at one of his bullies. Of course, there was more to it, not that I'm excusing Justin's bad behavior as a teenager, but when his home life growing up is laid bare, I had a better understanding of his actions. While the book may have been a wee bit too long in my eyes, I did enjoy the story as a whole and the epilogue was adorable. Four stars for The Revenge Game.
