Review: Thoroughly Pucked by Lauren Blakely (My Hockey Romance #3)

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.

Thoroughly Pucked is book three in Lauren Blakely's My Hockey Romance series. If you're new to the series, it features throuples, specifically M/F/M ones, with the male main characters being professional hockey players. (Side note: the novella that This third book has a jilted bride angle to it, with Aubrey Emerson being the aforementioned bride who didn't make it down the aisle due to her groom-to-be they would be better off as fuck buddies than committed to each other as husband and wife. The hockey players are Ledger McBride, forward for the San Francisco Sea Dogs, and Devon Ryland, goalie for the Golden State Foxes. When Aubrey's brother, Garrett, learns what happened to his sister, he reaches out to his two closest friends--Ledger and Dev--to rescue Aubrey. Neither guy is sure if doing that included turning the honeymoon into two times the fun. When their feelings for Aubrey continue to evolve into something more, telling their best friend--and their agent--could be the least of Ledger and Dev's worries.

As always, this newest My Hockey Romance novel, which is the longest in the series so far (I think!), was full of steam and sizzle. Aubrey saved herself a whole lot of heartache when her asshat ex suggested they be less than what they were, and Dev and Ledger certainly had no qualms being there for her in every single way imaginable. It was fun seeing these three go from lust to love and acknowledging the attraction that's been brewing for a while. Of course, Lauren Blakely having fur babies who turn into scene stealers in her books is something I always look forward to, and she disappoint with a black-and-white pup named Puck Fitzgibbons that our trio rescued from an alley. If you like your hockey romances with equal parts hockey and romance, I'm going to be honest and say the hockey scenes aren't all that plentiful, but the author does add a note at the beginning of the story to explain the timeline and how it affects the hockey season. That aside, Thoroughly Pucked is still a hot and entertaining read. Four stars!
